FAQ

You can put as little or as much as you like into a Muktii system. For 100 GBP you can have a Muktii system of 12000 TK. It would cost 3000 TK to buy 2 small goats for one person, so within this project 4 people would be benefiting. The next year, when the money is redistributed, another 4 people would benefit, bringing the total to 8 people who have benefited. As you can see, even from a small Muktii project, the number of beneficiaries will quickly grow. The benefit will grow even faster if you choose to add more money to the project each year or develop other Muktii projects as you gain confidence in the system and the Regulators that you have in place.

Once Mukti is set up, it does not take very long at all. Due to the information that I have set out on this website, there is very little to do. Realistically I spend about 5-6 hours per year dealing with Mukti. This involves one meeting with the prospective Recipients and communicating periodically with the Regulator.

As an Instigator to ensure that the money is going to the right Recipients, all you need to do is find your Regulator. If the Regulator is honest, trustworthy and capable, they will then be able to find the prospective Recipients for you to choose from. It is the Instigator who makes the final decision based upon the Regulators recommendations. For more details on how the Instigator and Regulator relationship works, please go to

We do not make any profit from this system. I do not benefit from it in any way as all monies go directly to the Recipients and are re-distributed at the end of each loan.

No. For the Recipients, Muktii is providing an interest free loan. It is not merely aid. By having to repay the money, they are benefiting from it as though it was charity, yet they are also becoming self-sufficient and keeping their dignity.

Although the primary purpose of Muktii is to provide money for the poor, in order to run this system without any of the costs of a charitable donation, a Regulator is needed. By allowing the Regulator to use the money repaid by the Recipients before it is redistributed, they are given an incentive to run the system properly for the Instigator, avoiding all associated costs. A Regulator being allowed to use the money for period will not decrease the amount available for the next distribution of the money.

Each repayment schedule is individual and determined on a case by case basis. The length and rate of repayment is for the Instigator to decide and they should take into account the ability of each individual to repay within a given period. For more details please see Guidelines for an Instigator

Due to inflation, the principal amount given through Muktii will be of less value over a period of time, but it will never be decreased by administrative costs. However much is given through Muktii, the figure will remain the same, and the value of it can be replenished by the Instigator making further donations if they wish to compensate for the effects of inflation.

As Muktii is a system where the money is never used up (as the Recipients re-pay the same amount that they borrowed), at the end of a loan term, the same initial amount is available for the Instigator to draw back from or add to the principal amount. This allows for flexibility in the amount that is distributed through Muktii over a long period.
