Muktiikunja
A Vision of Hope and Aspiration of the Needy

Introduction
With great hope, aspiration, and unconditional love, Muktii, a charitable organization, has commenced another milestone named Muktiikunja, where homeless and landless people will receive residential facilities by paying a minimal token rent (100-200 TK per month). The purpose of Muktiikunja is to assist the needy in the most efficient manner. Funding for the land, construction, and all associated costs comes entirely from Kazi Abdul Khalek, the founder.

Project Overview
There will be five separate buildings, each with five stories and consisting of 20 flats, totaling 100 flats to accommodate around 400 to 500 people. The founder of this project Kazi Abdul Khalek, started it in January 2024. Two buildings are currently under construction, and the third is planned to begin soon. The remaining two buildings will only be constructed if additional funding becomes available. By December 2025, the initial three buildings are expected to be completed and ready to be handed over to those in need, InShaa'ALLAH.

Eligibility
The authorities have set criteria for housing need, and only those who meet the criteria will be granted the opportunity to live in the apartments. For example, applicants must be homeless to qualify.

Creating a Harmonious Community
The project aims to establish a harmonious community where residents support one another with respect and cooperation. By creating an environment free from conflict or pollitical tensions, it will stand out as a model of decent society. Additionally, the project aims to build a family-based community by encouraging families to adopt and raise orphans, providing them with the love, care, and stability that orphanages do not offer. Unlike institutional care, which lacks the personal support of a family unit, this initiative focuses on nurturing children in a home environment where they can successful as cared-for children. Families who adopt will receive financial support, food, and other essential benefits.

Management and Governance
A voluntary committee, composed of honest, trustworthy, and capable representatives, will be formed through a resident voting process every two years. Only residents of Muktiikunja will be eligible to serve on the committee, ensuring that those who manage the community are invested in its smooth operation.

Business Opportunities
For the benefit of the residents, a super shop and a canteen will be established within the apartment complex so that residents can buy daily necessities and enjoy meals at the canteen. The prices in these businesses will be competitive with local shops to ensure that they attract more customers and higher profits. Muktiikunja will also invest in setting up and renting out a business property, retaining a share of the profits for its community fund that will be used to support the community’s needs. This initiative will provide a business opportunity for an individual to run the restaurant and shop, while residents will enjoy a 10% discount on purchases in these businesses.

Educational Facilities
A mosque will be built above one of the buildings, where children will have the opportunity to attend classes and gain Islamic knowledge. These classes are mandatory for all children to attend to support their essential Islamic education.

Rental Spaces
Additional provisions on the roof of Muktiikunja will include a mosque, offering regular prayers and providing Islamic teachings for children, which they will be expected to attend. The roof will also include spaces available for rent, ideal for weddings, events, and other gatherings. These spaces will be available to the public for a rental fee, and will be discounted for residents. The income generated from these rentals will contribute to the Muktiikunja fund.

Muktiikunja Old Age Home
In the Muktiikunj residential project, there will be provisions for elderly care or a senior home for those who are elderly, unable to work, and not receiving support from any family member. Dependent individuals will have access to separate, safe, and comfortable housing where they can live with ease and peace of mind. For elderly individuals who are unable to work, free nutritious meals will be provided so that they can lead a healthy and normal life without any worries. The elderly residents here will not suffer from loneliness. A compassionate environment will be created where they can feel like they are part of a family. Additionally, regular social activities and entertainment programs will be organized to ensure mental well-being and social connections, allowing them to enjoy their time happily. The goal of Muktiikunj is to ensure a secure, dignified, and peaceful life for the elderly. The project aims to ensure that they are not a burden to society but can live a beautiful life with respect and honor. Muktikunj will work towards this vision.
Free Healthcare
Since 1991, the Jahanara Clinic has been serving the community under the Muktii organization. This clinic will continue providing free and accessible healthcare to people in the area. To maintain order, the clinic operates on a token system. Patients will purchase a token for a nominal fee of 20 Tk (equivalent to USD $0.06), which goes solely toward administrative costs. The token secures a place in the queue and assigns a serial number, allowing for organized access to the weekly doctor consultations. Additionally, another 20 Tk token provides access to any number of basic tests, including blood, urine, and diabetes tests, all covered by Muktii. A doctor, generously agreeing to visit Muktiikunja weekly, is paid an honorarium by Muktii for his invaluable services, ensuring continuous and free healthcare.
